The development of culture is the integral part of all centuries-old, richest culture of Azerbaijan.The art is a creative activity, during which the art images - particularly sensual images reflecting the validity and that embodies the aesthetic attitude to it of the man are created. There are various kinds of arts distinguished by the special structure of an art image. One of them directly represents the phenomena of life / painting, sculpture, diagram, fiction, theatre, motion picture arts. Others express an ideological - emotional condition, produced by these phenomena, of the artist / music, choreography, decorative - applied and industrial art, architecture.

The modern Azerbaijan artists and sculptors create huge quantity of deep, interesting, bright products. In many countries of the world passed and pass days, decade of the Azerbaijan art, exhibition of representational and applied art. The large interest met these measures, which visited thousand people. The products of the Azerbaijan artists were on display at exhibitions in New York, Vienna, Paris, London, Turkey, Japan both many other countries and cities of the world.

The large interest was caused by exhibitions organized in a State museum of arts by the name of R. Mustafayev. In 1972. The Museum of the Azerbaijan carpet and folk -applied art was opened.

In spite of the fact that in "the Soviet time 1917-1920-1991" Communist party examined creativity of the artists, sculptors as one of means of the statement of ideology, many talented products which were far from officially regulated, canons have appeared.

Alongside with it, the ideological pressure essentially held down development of national art. Despite of it, the Azerbaijan school of painting has the traditions and is one of the strong schools of painting not only in the East, but also in the world art.

Based in June 13, 2000 the Academy of applied Arts of Azerbaijan confirms again and again, that the school of art in Azerbaijan was in the past days, exists, and will be forever.
